Local history stories Køge – Ringsted line

Ringsted Station

Peter Borring Sørensen talks about and shows pictures from the Køge - Ringsted line, which was built in 1917 and closed in 1963.

The local railways had their heyday when goods and people were transported via rails. As more and more goods were transported on lorries and people could afford to keep cars, the demand for transport via local railways in particular decreased.

The Køge-Ringsted line, however, had a long life according to the conditions.

Parish priest in Bringstrup-Sigersted, Peter Borring Sørensen knows a lot about the central Zealand local railways and has previously told about them at the Ringsted Museum and Archive.
