Art, culture and exciting events
Odsherred Art Museum
In the stately building 'Hvide Hus' is Odsherreds Kunstmuseum, which shows exhibitions of art with a focus on the landscape and on Odsherred.
The museum is also home to the works of the Odsherred painters. The artists' colony, which settled in Odsherred in the 1930s, was inspired by light, life and the landscape. The contrasts of the landscape - the hills, the dramatic slopes, the proximity to the sea and the burial mounds. But to a large extent also the markers of everyday life: telephone poles, roads and small houses. And of course the special light.
See the short intro video about the Odsherred painters who were active from 1930-1970.
The museum is open all year round and has a small shop and a coffee shop. See more below “Your visit”.
You can experience that
Explore the special exhibitions with living artists working with landscapes, Odsherred or West Zealand as inspiration.
Or get perspective on parts of our large art collection through the smaller exhibitions. It can be the Odsherred painters, the Swane artist family or other artists associated with the area.
'Hvide Hus' is located in the middle of Asnæs, and the architect Marius Pedersen was behind the building from 1917. He is known from the Bedre Byggeskik movement. His own home in Holbæk on Hill crest 45 is a great example of Better Building Practice.
Friends of the ensemble
At Odsherred Art Museum we have a friends association. You can read more about the association, as well as which other associations can be found at Museum Vestsjælland's other departments, by clicking on the link below.
