History, culture and exciting events
Slagelse Museum
At Slagelse Museum you can experience crafts, trade and industry. Come inside and see Håndværkergaden from the first half of the 1800th century. See also the exhibition from the 1900th century about service subjects, and experience the many small shops with their own workshop.
Download Museum guide (pdf), and explore the exhibitions for yourself. The guide puts the children on small tasks.
The museum is open all year.
You can shop in the old grocery store, buy coffee and cake in the café or eat brought food in the Green Urban Space.
You can experience that
Step into Handvärkergaden, and go 200 years back in time in the crooked street with topped cobblestones and nearby houses. In the houses you can see different workshops with traditional crafts.
You can also follow in Hans Christian Andersen's young footsteps and see a Latin school, like the one he went to when he lived in Slagelse.
The industrial exhibition contains stories about local industries, all of which helped to make their mark on the city and put Slagelse on the map.
I the old grocery store from the 1940s-1950s, you can have a look into a time of scarcity of goods, in-kind economics and rationing brands.
