Frederik Næblerød and Casper Aguila – two prominent voices in contemporary art – shared a lot of joy when they painted giant works of art on the large, white facade of Odsherred's Art Museum. Now, the Danish Arts Foundation has awarded the facade painting and the accompanying exhibition 'Timeline'.
The award is a special pat on the back and is awarded each year to artists 'who have created a work or exhibition of particularly high artistic quality'.
"Outside, on the white facade of the museum, large, black, contrasting figures are painted like a kind of cave painting. Inside, paintings, photography and sculpture are seen, all in black and white, which interact with the black splashes on the windows from the cave painting outside. It is ugly and beautiful. The works and the museum building create a whole, also with the two video installations in color in the exhibition," states the Danish Arts Foundation.
As a final justification for the fine award, the Danish Arts Foundation states:
“Frederik Næblerød and Casper Aguila are awarded because they subtly intervene in Odsherred's nature and show both a romantic landscape, but also raw nature and human vulnerability.”
This is big.
"It's a huge honor! The Danish Arts Foundation is the most prestigious body in the arts. The grant committee's task is to find and award the best of the time, meaning that professionals have unsolicitedly awarded a work of art and said that it is good. This is really great," says Head of Communication and Art, Britta Tøndborg.
We are proud to be able to showcase the works of the two artists! The exhibition can be experienced at Odsherreds Kunstmuseum until September.
Næblerød and Aguila are currently also exhibiting at Odsherred Museum in Nykøbing Sjælland with a completely different and colorful collection of giant works, namely the exhibition 'Places like this'.
The award and honor come with 25.000 for each artist.
