Willemoes and the WreckOngoing
Annebjerg Stræde 1, 4500 Nykøbing Sj
In Denmark, a moped was missing for the girls. Until around 1969, PUCH had only made larger and heavy gear knockers, e.g. MS50, VZ50 and PUCH Flagship. The Danish technicians at the PUCH factory in Austria got together with the other technicians and constructed a lighter model with automatic transmission that could appeal to the girls' wishes and needs. It became PUCH Maxi. It was launched in Denmark in 1969 first as the pedal model PUCH Maxi 1P and later in 1974 came the PCH Maxi 1 K with kickstarter.
Torben Andersen was part of the management of the PUCH importer OE Andersen A/S, which in collaboration with Steyr-Puch's designers developed the PUCH Maxi in the late 60s. It ended with a sales success of approx. 220.000 sold PUCH Maxi copies in Denmark, as well as approx. 200.000 PUCCH gear knockers.
Torben Andersen has driven a lot of PUCH Maxis himself, when he helped test them. A special footrest was developed so that the girls could sit with their legs together while driving without too much fuss under the dress. Seatpost suspension was also made, which took the worst bumps while driving. The light fixtures were also special on the mopeds that were sold in Denmark.
