City tour – Holbæk in the Middle Ages

Holbæk seen from the fjord, drawing

City walk around Holbæk in the Middle Ages with stories about monks, enterprising merchants, mayors and ordinary people and their different living conditions.

Holbæk was an enterprising town in the Middle Ages and had a flourishing trading life blessed by a fertile catchment and close access to the sea. The town attracted new citizens, among others also monks from the Order of Black Brothers, who established a monastery that still stands. On the trip around the city's crooked, picturesque streets, there are stories about the god-fearing monks, about mayors who ruled the city and about the city's citizens who lived a frugal life.

Hear also about the province's widest square and the narrow streets down towards the water.

The trip is not suitable for people with walking difficulties.

It is necessary to buy a ticket in advance.
