Odsherred Municipality has long had plans to rebuild Grundtvigskolen in Nykøbing into a new, large joint museum for Odsherred's Museum, Odsherred's Art Museum and Geopark dissemination centre.

It will take several years before it is in place, but while we wait for the large new museum, we already have plans to move Odsherreds Museum's activities from Annebjerggaard to Nykøbing Zealand.
The plan is to move into the newest building on Grundtvigskolen's cadastre – building 08 designed by architect Stig Løcke and built in 2008.
Right now we are waiting for the commissioning permit from the municipality, and then we will get started.

Museum director Eskil Vagn Olsen says "We are very much looking forward to moving to the city and getting closer to good partners such as Geoparken and Odsherreds Teater, while also being able to test the possibilities of the new location. The first goal is to be able to open in Nykøbing on 29 June – for the summer holidays. Initially with space and the possibility of holding family activities on site. We are also planning changing exhibitions in the building, which we see as an experimentarium and part of the preparation for the big new museum”.

We still don't have all the details in place with the new exhibitions, or which items will be moved from Annebjerggaard and which will go into storage, so keep an eye on our plans here on the website.

On Sunday 23 June we close down at Annebjerggaard. Check It happens under the Odsherreds Museum, where events are regularly set up with the opportunity to participate in the last tours of the exhibitions Solens Land and Willemoes og Wraget.
