This Easter, a very special guest will be coming to Holbæk Museum!
It is over seven meters long – and is a faithful copy of the Gislinge boat from 1130 in full scale. The boat is called Langöe and was built at the boatyard at the Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde. At Easter it will be exhibited in the courtyard at Holbæk Museum – from March 28 to April 9.
It's a unique opportunity – see the real wreck of the Gislinge boat from 1130 in the beautiful exhibition inside, and then move outside and see what the boat looked like in full scale.
The boat is 7,7 meters long and has been used to transport goods and people. It has a very shallow draft, which means it can travel anywhere in the fjords and on the waterways.
Langöe is on loan to Holbæk Museum, and this is made possible through a collaboration between the Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde and Museum Vestsjælland.
