HM Queen Margrethe visited Holbæk Museum

Saturday was a very special day – Queen Margrethe visited Holbæk Museum to see the exhibition about Holbæk and of course the Gislinge boat.

Museum director Eskil Vagn Olsen welcomed and showed a very interested Queen Margrethe around, it was a great experience and we are incredibly proud and happy!

Queen Margrethe was received in the museum courtyard in front of the beautiful Søren Mays farm from 1669. She immersed herself in the exhibition about Holbæk in the Middle Ages – especially the skeleton with the mysterious mussel shells, the so-called ibskaller.

Finally, the trip went to 'The Last Viking Ship?' where Queen Margrethe first saw the fascinating parts of the boat up close and watched the film about the find and the process of excavating and preserving the boat. The visit was rounded off by the Gislinge Boat, which was a great desire for the Queen to see.

We thank you very much for your visit!
