On a tour of Antvorskov Monastery Ruins, you will hear about everything that has happened at the site and what the buildings once looked like.
Once upon a time, Denmark's oldest, largest and richest Hospitaller monastery was located here.
On the tour we walk through the area's spectacular ruins, while the guide explains what the place was used for.
In the Middle Ages, nobles could pay for burial plots in the monastery and live out their last years here. In 1580, the monastery was closed, and after a few years it was converted into a royal hunting lodge.
The first excavations of the monastery began as early as 1887, and since then more excavations have been carried out – so we have a pretty good general impression of what the monastery looked like in the Middle Ages.
Come along on an exciting tour of a place where thousands of people speed past every day on the highway next door – and get an impression of how magnificent the place once was.
Unfortunately, the trip is not suitable for people with walking difficulties.
