City walk – Holbæk during the occupation

Join us on an exciting city walk, where we stop at places in Holbæk where something very special happened during World War II - you will experience the city in a whole new way.

We start at the Barracks – here the soldiers were told that they had to sleep with their clothes up and their rifles nearby, as they knew that the Germans were coming!

Behind the Barracks we will hear a little about the large weapons warehouse, which they were busy clearing out when the Germans came. But some weapons had already disappeared…

We also pass the cemetery, where German soldiers lie side by side with English pilots who were shot down. In the far corner, 74 German civilian refugees also lie – many of them very young children. Harsh stories are hidden here.

We will also stop at the place where a thief was brutally executed, and we will hear the mysterious story of the young woman Åse, who was shot at point blank range in the beach park.

In Klosterstræde, two houses are located almost side by side. The distance between them is a few steps, but during the occupation the distance was infinitely greater. Here, resistance fighters and Nazi supporters lived side by side.

Finally, we end up at the Harbor, where we will hear about the many Jews who were helped to Sweden. They were sailed on two fishing boats from Holbæk Harbor.

Unfortunately, the trip is not suitable for people with walking difficulties.

It is necessary to buy a ticket in advance.
