Emma Gad – lecture about an unusual woman

Most people only associate her with 'Takt og Tone'. But in reality she was much more – including a popular playwright and feminist.

For over 100 years, Emma Gad has been the answer to every question related to correct behavior. With the book 'Takt og Tone' from 1918, she perhaps first and foremost described a world that was already becoming obsolete. But at the same time, she set out some practical guidelines that are still partly valid. Friendly and firm, but also with great humor!

Today, Emma Gad is perceived as a strict rule-follower, and most people probably only associate her with 'Takt og Tone'. But in reality, she was a popular and recognized playwright who wrote a series of daring plays for, among others, the Royal Danish Theatre.

She was an avid social debater, feminist and trade union pioneer. And she was Denmark's first female journalist.

Torben Brink tells the story of the old lady vividly and with barely concealed love, and he spices up his story with both illustrations and quotes from her well-known and lesser-known works.
