Better Building Practices
Welcome to Museum Vestsjælland's page about the Better Construction movement and Bakkekammen 45, Denmark's only museum for Better Construction.
On this page, you can read more about Bedre Byggeskik, which in the first half of the 20th century worked to improve the Danish building culture. Also read more about the interior museum in the villa at Bakkekammen 45. There are pictures at the bottom of each article.
Bakkekammen 45 is a unique Better Building Practice house. The house was designed in 1929 by architect Marius Pedersen (1888-1965) for himself. He lived and worked here until his death. His wife Emma Pedersen (1905-2007) lived in the house until her death in 2007, and thanks to her, the house is almost unchanged both externally and internally.
A friendly donation from the Nordea Foundation of DKK 5 million. kroner made it possible for Holbæk Museum to set up Denmark's first museum and knowledge center for Better Construction in the house on Bakkekammen.
