TV2 Øst was at the opening of the Shadow Warriors

TV2 Øst was present when Slagelse Mayor Knud Vincents and Kathrine Dark from the British Embassy in Copenhagen officially opened Museum Vestsjælland's new exhibition on Saturday, May 3rd. The Shadow Warriors.

The exhibition sheds light on the British intelligence and agent service SOE (Special Operations Executive), which played a crucial role in the Danish resistance during World War II. SOE managed to build an extensive and politically broad resistance network in Denmark.

The exhibition tells some of the dramatic and personal stories that unfolded in West Zealand. Visitors can experience unique objects from the time – such as a remote-controlled gun used by SOE agent Johan Bruun, which could be fired with his hands in the air via a trigger hidden in his hand.

Museum director Eskil Vagn Olsen says:
“We have both strong stories and completely unique objects from Central and West Zealand in the exhibition. I hope that the visitors get a sense of what an important role the region played in the resistance and in the collaboration with England. And perhaps it also gives food for thought: What would you have done in that situation? Where do we stand today?”
