Grundtvigsskolen is the framework for the new museum we will create in the city when we move Odsherreds Museum later this year.
Earlier this year we were lucky enough to receive support from Nordea-fondens 'Here we grow' pool to transform the gray school yard into a fantastic urban garden. Our volunteer weed wives have now been digging up and moving the collection of approximately 170 historical plants! Several of them are rare and have been used for medicinal purposes.
A large, round bed has now been laid in the middle of the school yard and later in the season more plants will be ready to be moved.
On 8 June, Nykøbing was visited by the Minister for Cities and Rural Areas, Morten Dahlin. He was given a tour of the city center and on his guided tour with Mayor Karina Vincentz, the minister saw the Grundtvig School and heard about museum plans and new possible urban spaces.
The reason for the visit is a new trial scheme where the state allocates money for the development of the city center in 14 cities. DKK 9 million has been allocated to Nykøbing.
