Application
In medieval monastic medicine, Doctor's Smoke was used to treat leprosy. It was also used as a laxative and to treat syphilis and gonorrhea. Doctor's Smoke was also a very common remedy for scabies and itching.
Later, the plant was used for various skin conditions, such as scabies in infants, and it was also used against scurvy. Extracts of the plant have been used to remove freckles.
The flowers dye wool yellow.
