Application

China – Jute has been used mostly as an edible plant. It is the seeds that are used, they can be eaten raw or cooked. They can also be ground into flour and used in baking. In addition, oil can be extracted from the seeds.

Fibers from the stems are used for rope.

Medicinally, China – Jute has been used to treat eye diseases, against fever and as an expectorant. Poultices of crushed plants have been used externally for wounds. Tea from the root was used for kidney disorders and dysentery.

Ingredients

Rutin. The seeds contain a drying oil. The stems contain fiber.
