Application
Several different species of astragalus have been used in medieval monastic medicine as a remedy for coughs and indigestion. Presumably, some of the species used can be grown in Denmark.
Coffee – Astragalus grows well in this country. It was previously cultivated on quite large areas. The seeds were used as a coffee substitute under the name Swedish coffee. The taste was considered to be better than the taste of chicory, which was otherwise the most widely used coffee substitute.
