Application
Garden balsam has been used as a laxative, a diuretic and an emetic. Extracts of the plant are said to be effective against joint pain. The sap has been used against warts. The flowers have a cooling and astringent effect, have been used on burns and eczema and as an antidote for snakebites.
Has a mucolytic effect. Has been used as a treatment for cancer. Powdered seeds have been used as a tonic for women in difficult childbirth.
