Application
The essential oil is widely used in aromatherapy. The oil is experienced by many as floral-sweet, while others perceive it as hay-like or like the smell of sweat. It is claimed to have euphoric, sexually stimulating and firming effects. For the same reason, it is often used in the perfume industry.
In the 17th century, alcoholic beverages were made that were flavored with oil from Clary Sage to enhance the intoxicating effect of the alcohol.

Even today, the oil is used as a flavoring in many tobacco varieties.
