Application
Sugar beet has been cultivated as a vegetable plant in Europe since the 1500th century. The root is harvested in the fall and can be eaten raw or cooked. The taste is, as the name suggests, sweet. Sugar beet can also be used as a sweetener in food preparation. Finally, sugar beet has been used to make wine.
