Application
Scottish Lostilk was used as a medicinal plant in the 1400th century, but has never achieved official medicinal plant status. The root was used as a laxative, for pelvic inflammation and cystitis. The seeds were used as a laxative and as a deodorant. In English folk medicine used as an aphrodisiac.
Scottish Lostilk can be used as a herb. The taste is similar to lovage, but is milder and more aromatic. The stems can be boiled and eaten as a vegetable. They are a bit like celery.
