Application
Marigold has been used as a medicinal plant for more than 5000 years. It is primarily used externally as a wound-healing and anti-inflammatory herb. When ingested, Marigold has a diaphoretic and antispasmodic effect. For example, it can have a good effect on menstrual problems.
Experiments have shown that the saponin content in marigold has a certain cholesterol-lowering effect.
Marigold has been used as a saffron counterfeit. The taste, however, is quite different from the real thing. Extract of Marigold flowers can be used as a butter color.
Marigold extract is still used in cosmetic products. Here, Marigold has a calming and soothing effect on irritated skin.
