Social media in strategic communication

Master's students from the University of Copenhagen create innovative communication for Museum Vestsjælland

Museum Vestsjælland and the University of Copenhagen have collaborated in the spring semester on the master's course "Social Media in Strategic Communication". 34 students have worked in teams with the museum's communication and brand across social media, from Instagram and Facebook to the museum's historical podcast.

Museum Vestsjælland will be Central and West Zealand's common memory and create spaces where everyone can experience and explore our rich cultural heritage. With our 11 unique museum locations gathered under one brand, the students were given the “time-typical” task of working strategically with how our many contact points can be prioritized, developed and maintained on social media.

The result of the students' strategic and innovative solutions has inspired Museum West Zealand to now look at how the ideas are implemented in the museum's communication and marketing. The collaboration has also created internships for students. Keep an eye on the hashtags #KUsamarbejdeog #KUsocialmediestrategi, as they will testify that the communication is based on the students' efforts.

The fruitful benefits of the course "Social Media in Strategic Communication", organized by external associate professor Marta Karolina Olsen, is a good example of what the collaboration between the university and the museum institution can create from new knowledge and competencies of those involved.
