Welcome to Ringsted Pleasure Park
Ringsted Leisure Park was built in 1899 as part of a nationwide trend to create green urban spaces for recreation. The leisure park was designed by horticulture graduate Fabricius Hansen, who won first prize in an architectural competition, and the park is a beautiful example of landscape architecture from that time.
The leisure complex is inspired by the English landscape garden and offers a beautiful alternation between small forest groves and open grasslands, connected by winding paths. The heart of the park is a pavilion, symmetrically placed in the middle of the complex, from which several “sight lines” open up views across the landscape. Here you will also find a winding lake with a charming footbridge.
The recreational area contains several fine elements, such as the pavilion from 1907, which has served as both a restaurant and a gathering place over the years. The music stand, added in 1917, forms the backdrop for concerts and cultural events. The lakes, Swan Lake and Brick Lake, were created in 1932 and are connected by a romantic bridge.
In 1981, Ringsted Lystanlæg was protected to preserve its historical and recreational value. Today, the park is still used for recreation, and the park's biodiversity is also protected, including by leaving dead trees as habitats for fungi and insects, which attracts birds.
Every year since 2005, Ringsted Festival has filled the park with life and music, with thousands of guests enjoying the beautiful green surroundings.
