Record numbers at museums during the autumn holidays!

There was a lot of activity all around during the school autumn holidays – at Museum Vestsjælland we had 25 percent more visitors than last year!

To be precise, there were 4.103 guests who chose to visit us.

– We are incredibly happy. Last year was a good year, but this year we have broken a record, says museum director Eskil Vagn Olsen, pointing in particular to the Night at the Museum events as one of the great audience successes.

Night at the Museum was held in Holbæk, Kalundborg, Ringsted and Odsherred – with thrills and spooks for the whole family.

Families with children flocked to our activities – which in many places were free, open and available all day. This meant that families could come when it suited their own rhythm and try the activities at their own pace.

– We wanted to make it easier and more accessible, and it has clearly worked, says Eskil Vagn Olsen.

At Holbæk Museum, for example, we had an open archaeological workshop where families could, among other things, try out metal detectors and dig in the ground for real finds. In Slagelse, you could try your hand at an escape game and an obstacle course, and in Sorø, you could decorate candles and make a candlestick.
