Out of the dark

Out of the darkness – dark painters and the light of the landscape

The exhibition Ud af mørket - dark painters and the light of the landscape explores how the Odsherred painters' approach to light and colors in their natural motifs changes from the beginning of the artists' colony around the beginning of the 1930s onwards. Here, selected paintings from the artist colony's early years appear side by side with several younger, brighter works to show how, over time, they chose new ways of working with nature and the immediate surroundings.

Here, the development from the early, introspective dark painting to the brighter and more brightly colored landscape depictions is shown, which testify to an artistic journey characterized by change and immersion.

The exhibition can be seen at Odsherred's Art Museum until 30 March 2025 in the museum's opening hours.
