What do slaves have to do with Holbæk? Get the answer on a guided tour that starts at the National Museum's shipyard at Holbæk Harbour and ends at Holbæk Museum.
In collaboration with the National Museum's shipyard at Kanalstræde 23, the National Museum and Holbæk Museum offer a series of joint tours with the theme 'Slave of Denmark'.
The tours take place on the occasion of Danmarks Radio's 2025 theme on exactly the same theme.
In fact, DR filmed part of the series at the National Museum's shipyard in Holbæk and these scenes will be included in the tour of the harbor, where historian Asger Nørlund talks about the slave transports and the seafaring that was part of this dark side of Danish trade.
After the tour of the ships in the harbor, we go to Klosterstræde 18, where the museum is ready with a tour of the exhibition 'West Zealand/West Indies'. Here you can learn more about what West Zealand has to do with the tropical colony.
Please note that the tour does not start and end at the same address.
It is necessary to buy a ticket in advance.
