Klostrstræde 18, 4300 Holbæk
It is fascinating to see and hear about ruins from the Middle Ages. Join a tour of the Næsholm castle ruins and find out why the castle was destroyed.
Næsholm is one of the medieval sites that has been best studied by archaeologists. The ruins are located on an island in Nygaard Lake in Odsherred, 3 km west of Nykøbing. It is a typical castle from the High Middle Ages with a moat, drawbridge, defensive tower and residential houses. It is dated to have been built in 1278. It is not known who built the castle. Traces of a violent fire indicate that it was destroyed after a siege by King Valdemar IV. Atterdag in the 4s.
The tour is unsuitable for people with walking difficulties.
It is necessary to buy a ticket in advance.
Meeting place: Parking lot at Næsholm, Nygårdsvej, Nykøbing Sj 4500.
