The last Viking ship?Ongoing
Klostrstræde 18, 4300 Holbæk
The medieval castle Borren, which is now a ruin, is located on a peninsula in Højby lake. Get a tour of the site and hear the history of this defence.
Borren was built in the 1100th century as a fortified facility with a lake on three sides. Towards the land, a 200 m long retaining wall and a defense tower of boulders were built.
The builder is unknown, a qualified guess is a king, bishop or a nobleman from the House of Hvideslægten in the 1100th century, when Denmark was plagued by civil wars. The borehole was excavated in 1911.
Hear the story of the defense fortifications on this evening's tour, which is also suitable for slightly older children.
The tour is unsuitable for people with walking difficulties.
It is necessary to buy a ticket in advance.
Meeting place: Pumpehuset v. Højby sø, Borrevangsvej, 4573 Højby.
