Love ruins? Then join us on a tour of Antvorskov Monastery Ruins with vivid stories about the place's great importance in the Middle Ages.
Antvorskov Monastery was a fully functional and modern Hospitaller monastery and one of Denmark's largest in the early Middle Ages.
Get the history of the Knights Hospitaller and the monastery and hear about life behind the medieval walls with the ruins of Denmark's oldest toilet. The monastery closed in 1580 and was taken over by the king, who built his new castle on the site. Here he could stay overnight when he was traveling between Copenhagen and Jutland.
The ruin still contains remains of Denmark's best-preserved hall house and remains of the monastery church, which was once one of the largest in the country.
The tour of the monastery ruins is not suitable for those with walking difficulties.
It is necessary to buy a ticket in advance.
