Lecture - HAV, The voice of the sea in Denmark
Klostrstræde 18, 4300 Holbæk
The exhibition unfolds the painter Poul Ekelund's (1921-1976) artistic life's work through 60 paintings made from 1944 until 1975. The motifs are in many ways the same as those of the Odsherred painters, only Ekelund's paintings were created in another part of the country.
Ekelund and the Odsherred painters dealt with straightforward depictions of the immediate surroundings, nature and figure. At Ekelund, however, there is a special personal processing of motifs such as the road, the trees, the landscape and the simple portrait of either a lobster on a platter or a person in a room.
The exhibition is arranged by Vendsyssel Art Museum and is also on display at Museum Thy / Heltborg Museum
