carmen curlers – stagedOngoing
Adelgade 23, 4400 Kalundborg
In July, the two artists have taken over the first floor of the former school, where they have created the site-specific installation Places like this.
The two artists have approached the project as if it were a studio community, where they have worked side by side.
The art is created from recycled materials and has been created on site. It has become a veritable art storm and they have received help from the local area. The recycling center in Nykøbing Sjælland reserved a container for the artists where they have collected waste that could be recycled, for example discarded paintings, picture frames and wood. They have received surplus paint from the local branch of Flüggers and leftover paint from master painter Finn Nielsen.
The two art stormers belong to the latest generation of Odsherred painters. They have stayed and worked in Odsherred during the summer holidays. It was noticed when they moved into a storm-ravaged summer house in Korshage (2015-17) and then on a disused agricultural property in Vig (2018-20). Both artists exhibit at home and abroad and they have had a number of joint exhibitions at the Alice Volker Gallery. Frederik Næblerød has also participated in the TV program Kunstnerkolonien and the DR series "Undiluted".
With large decorations, paintings and sculptures, they have together created a unique art space based on recycled materials.
The exhibition can be visited in the museum's opening hours.
