Crawl through Ringsted's sewers and examine what the archaeologists have found down there under the cobblestones. You can also serve sausages to your grandfather in the square or build a clockwork out of brightly colored "candy cogwheels" in the shop. Maybe you'd rather climb into the Shadows' sardine can bed and relax while mom reads aloud from the story of the Shadows. The possibilities are many in MIG & MIN BY, where you can discover Ringsted's history mixed with children's book author and illustrator Rasmus Bregnhøi's imaginative universe.
The exhibition and the story of the Shadows and the city that unfolds in the museum are inspired by children. Secret treasures underground, shops with everything the heart desires, delicious food, and animals in long tracks are important in the children's city, but of course also the home where they live with their families. The museum provides the historical perspective, and with the help of the children, objects have been selected from both the museum's cache and the children's.
The exhibition is particularly suitable for children aged 2-8, but everyone can get something out of visiting MIG & MIN BY. "When I was a child" makes you want to say and share your story with the younger generations. If the children or grandchildren need extra time for play and immersion, you can take a break and watch from the sidelines.
The exhibition has been developed together with local kindergartens and the Vardemuseums, and has traveled around Denmark since 2020. Museum Vestsjælland is the project manager for MIG & MIN BY, which is supported by the Nordea Foundation. The story of the Shadows was written and drawn by Rasmus Bregnhøi. The exhibition was built by Bureau Detours.
The exhibition can be experienced at Ringsted Museum from 23 November 2024.
