The last Viking ship?Ongoing
Klostrstræde 18, 4300 Holbæk
What's hiding beneath the surface of the ground between rats and earthworms? Pipes of water and things that people have dropped. Play underground detective on the grass at Ringsted Museum.
If we could see through the asphalt and cobblestones, we could spot the pipes winding through the ground. In some of the pipes there is rainwater and in some toilet water. In the garden behind the museum, we can play with the pipes, make drains, send the water through the system and follow it on its way. They are sewer pipes and without the sewers it was a completely different city we lived in.
We also play archaeologist and find things in the ground. It can be old capsules, coins, bones and stone axes. When the archaeologists stick their spade into the ground inside the city, history bubbles up and tells us something about the people who lived there before.
The activity is connected to the children's exhibition Me & My City on the museum's first floor. Here, children can crawl through the city's sewers, fight rats, find forgotten things in the ground, serve sausages in the square, shop in the shops and visit the Shadows' home. The exhibition is designed by Rasmus Bregnhøi, who also wrote the story "The Shadows' Wonderful Journey Through the City" for the exhibition.
In case of heavy rain, we will move indoors with another activity related to the exhibition Me and My City.
