Experience The Last Viking Ship? – intro included in the entrance

The Last Viking Ship

Visit Holbæk Museum and get a live introduction to the fascinating exhibition The last Viking ship? – included in today's entrance ticket.

Twice – at 14.00:15.00 PM and 900:1993 PM – the museum guide will give a short story about the history of the XNUMX-year-old Gislinge boat. With the help of video and pictures, you will get the whole story of the discovery at Gislinge in XNUMX and the subsequent archaeological excavation.

Hear about the extensive work that archaeologists and conservators have put into dating, preserving and exhibiting the unique ship. Despite almost a thousand years in the earth and sand, the boat today appears impressively well-preserved and almost intact.

After the introduction, we take a closer look at the 7,5-meter-long ship. Here, the beautiful details and the special clinker building technique are clearly evident – a Nordic craft tradition that is included on UNESCO's list of intangible cultural heritage.

The exhibition is staged with light and sound, creating an atmospheric and sensory experience for both children and adults. The Gislinge boat is exhibited in the largest display case ever built at Holbæk Museum – a spectacular sight in itself.

Today's two live stories are free once the entrance fee has been paid.
