carmen curlers – stagedOngoing
Adelgade 23, 4400 Kalundborg
Hear about the occupation period in Holbæk on a city walk in the footsteps of the war with stops at places where landmark events have gone down in history.
Denmark was occupied by Germany in April 1940 and the next five years, until Germany surrendered in May 1945, was a period of hope, pain, courage, deprivation, fear, willpower and, on the one hand, the need to look after oneself and on the other hand, give the Germans all the resistance that was possible.
In Holbæk, too, many citizens and families fought each other and the Germans with their lives.
However, most looked after themselves and managed to get through their everyday lives despite the occupation.
On the city tour, there are stops at some of the places where battles were fought between Germans and local citizens, and where there were successful acts of sabotage aimed at German-friendly businesses. Hear about persecutions, concentration camps and Frikorps Denmark and about receiving weapons from England, which made the resistance possible.
The trip is not suitable for people with walking difficulties.
It is necessary to buy a ticket in advance via the ticket express.
