Lecture – County Governors 1660-1970

Torben Albret Kristensen has researched the history of the counties. In tonight's lecture, he focuses on the county governors of Sorø 1660-1970.

The county governors were the extended arm of the king and the state administration in the country. Their tasks were diverse, and they often had to decide on even very small matters in the local communities.

Sorø has had a county governor from the beginning, and based on the preserved source material from Sorø County, the audience will gain insight into the work at the county farm over 300 years and meet selected county governors.
