Silver and again silver

Special exhibition Born with a Silver Spoon in His Mouth 2

This exhibit is no longer available.

Born with a silver spoon in its mouth is an exhibition about silver, with silver and an enthusiasm for silver.

Here is silver for decoration on the table, body, clothes, pipe, shoe, sideboard and silver for recognition, birth, baptism, confirmation, wedding, anniversary and victories. Silver that has been inherited, silver that has been collected and silver that has been put in the back of the cupboard because it became outdated and unbearable to polish.

The weight of the collection is in the period 1850-1970 and contains, among other things, examples of silverware from local silversmiths in Sorø and Slagelse.

The design of silver body, ornaments, cutlery and jewelry follows the fashion of the time, just as the use of silver in home decor is also a fashion trend, which around 1960 pushed silver over the edge in favor of immaculate steel.

You can mirror yourself in freshly polished silverware - come and have a look and enjoy the great variety in beautiful details and shapes.

A short film in the exhibition tells about the properties of silver as a precious metal.
