Into the dark – dark painters and the light of the landscape (reprise)

Now we are heading towards the dark times. If you missed the pleasure in the spring, you have the chance again to experience the works of the Odsherred painters with a focus on light and dark.

The exhibition explores how the Odsherred painters' approach to light and color in their natural motifs changes from the beginning of the artists' colony around the beginning of the 1930s onwards. Here, selected paintings from the artist colony's early years appear side by side with several younger, brighter works to show how, over time, they chose new ways of working with nature and the immediate surroundings.

Here, the development from the early, introspective dark painting to the brighter and more brightly colored landscape depictions is shown, which testify to an artistic journey characterized by change and immersion.

The autumn exhibition where the works will reappear – with a few surprises – can be seen from October 11 to December 21, 2025 at Odsherreds Kunstmuseum in the museum's opening hours.
