OUR WILD TALES – THE SEA BATTLE AT THE CAPE
Museum inspector Thomas Lund Johansen took part in TV2 Øst's broadcast Our Wild Tales. Here Prinds Christian Frederik told him about Denmark's last large ship of the line in battle against the English. A battle that ended off Odden Havn, where the ship ran aground and later burned.
In 1808, the British defeat Denmark's last large warship in a dramatic naval battle off Zealand's Odde. The broadcast Our Wild Tales tells the story of the defeat, which will definitively end Denmark's status as a Nordic and European naval power.

The special exhibition Willemoes and the Wreck can be experienced at Odsherreds Museum until 6 October. The exhibition shows the dramatic story of the battle as seen from the people aboard the mighty warship. In addition, we also tell the story of the Sea Hero Willemoes and the importance his myth had for Denmark, right up to today.
