While the snow falls quietly over our beautiful St. Bendts Church, then a lovely piece of news ran into us in Ringsted from Christiansborg.
This morning, the government lifted the veil on next year's Finance Act. And it offered DKK two million. to a new visitor center at Sct. Bendt's Church. The visitor center will raise the story of Ringsted's unique history to a new and international level.
St. Bendts Church, which was expanded as a monastery in the 1100th century and was completed in 1170, is known for its historical connections to medieval royal tombs and canonizations, and has long been a central part of Denmark's cultural heritage.
The final plan for the visitor center is not yet in place. But the idea is, among other things, that it should be attractive to all ages and, for example, offer exhibitions - also interactive and at children's height, festivals, workshops and, not least, a place where it is both cozy and fun to spend time as a family.
Behind the project is a steering group consisting of Museum Vestsjælland, Ringsted Parish, Ringsted Municipality, Region Zealand and Destination Zealand, which will continue to work on the plans in the coming years.
