About the project

Me and my city

The project MIG & MIN BY aims to support children as cultural citizens.

The exhibition and the associated dissemination are targeted at 2-8-year-olds. Through the combination of play and learning, the focus is on the children's local town as a unique historical community. The children help to explore and discover the city, both at the museum and out in the urban space.

The exhibition MIG & MIN BY has been developed in collaboration with kindergarten children. Their ideas have been the inspiration for everything from themes to objects, just as a number of brave children have lent the museum some of their best things.

The exhibition is made in two copies, which in the period from 2021-2025 will visit 10 different local museums throughout Denmark.

Museum Vestsjælland is the project manager, and has been in charge of the development together with the Vardemuseerne. Other collaborative museums include ROMU, Museum Lolland-Falster, Østsjællands Museum, Museums Østjylland, Ringkøbing-Skjern Museum, Middelfart Museum and Museum Thy.

Rasmus Bregnhøi, who is a children's book author and illustrator, has created a story for the project about the shadows, which are small creatures that live in the city. The story of the shadows has been published as a book in connection with the exhibition, and it is the Bureau Detours that has built the exhibition, based on. The imaginative universe of the shadows has been translated into a whole city by the visual artists, which the children can explore.

The project is supported by the Nordea Foundation. Follow the project on Instagram @migogminby
