A series of gigantic stones appeared when excavations were being made for a bypass road in Vig. They have now been lifted into place on Algade and Grundtvigsvej in Nykøbing. Right next to Odsherred Museum there is now also a large, fine stone.
The stones are part of a large development project that will strengthen the city center and bring more life. And of course, they need to be painted.
'It is a primordial force from our subsoil that we are bringing into the city center. Odsherred and the moraine landscape are masses of stone pushed from Norway, several thousand years ago, before it was called Norway, and the stones have landed here,' says Artist Karoline H. Larsen, who is part of the project.
From around June 12th onwards, when we also open the large children's exhibition Me and My City and The Historical Garden, the stones will be painted by children, young people and professional artists.
The project is a collaboration between Odsherred Municipality, Købstaden Nykøbing Sjælland, Ung i Odsherred, Museum Vestsjælland (Odsherred Museum), Geopark Odsherred, Odsherred Theatre, Odsherred Library, Artist Karoline H. Larsen
