Intro to the Shadow Warriors
Slagelse Museum, Bredegade 11A, 4200 Slagelse
Tour description
All adults in Europe know the story of the Second World War and how the resistance movements supported the Allied war against Nazi Germany. Or do they?
The museum's guide takes you on a journey through time in the museum's newest exhibition The Shadow Warriors, which shows the real story of how difficult the conditions were for the organization of the resistance in Europe.
The exhibition focuses on SOE (Special Operations Executive), the English intelligence and agent service that got Denmark organized into a complicated resistance network across political wings.
Hear the history of the resistance work and experience some of the dramatic events that took place in West Zealand.
West Zealanders came into close contact with spies, weapons training and organization. They received weapons from heaven and performed dangerous missions. The effort also cost many young British men their lives as well as the loss of many Royal Air Force aircraft.
After an introduction to the exhibition, it is possible to explore the exhibition yourself and watch the short film in the adjacent room.
