Malergården receives support from Andel for green conversion

The energy and fiber network group Share supports Malergården in Odsherred in converting energy consumption from fossil to a more climate-friendly energy solution. This is done through a grant of DKK 200.000 for energy advice.

Malergården in Plejerup by the Lammefjord is one of the few well-preserved, authentic artists' homes in Denmark. From 1934, the farm belonged to the painter Sigurd Swane and his wife Agnete, and today you can enjoy many of Swane's impressionistic and emotionally charged landscape paintings, flower pictures and portraits in the family's personal setting.

Now Malergården is facing a modernization of energy consumption, and Museum Vestsjælland, which runs Malergården, receives support for this from Andel. The goal is for the heat supply to be converted from an oil boiler to a more climate-friendly energy source, so that CO2 emissions are reduced. In addition, modernization and year-round heating will potentially make it possible to extend the museum's opening hours and protect the cultural heritage.

For Eskil Vagn Olsen, museum director of Museum Vestsjælland, the support from Andel provides an opportunity to get an accurate picture of where the effect is greatest:

- Museum Vestsjælland has for a long time been working to reduce its energy consumption both for the sake of the climate and the economy. However, it is not always easy to assess exactly where the most effective measures can be taken - especially when it comes to buildings worthy of preservation or listed buildings. With the funds from Andel, we now have the opportunity for a thorough energy report with calculations and solution proposals targeted at Malergården, which is one of our main attractions. The goal is that we can get energy renovated Malergården - preferably with a focus on renewable energy solutions, so we can both contribute to the green transition and at the same time extend the season to the whole year - for the benefit and joy of locals and tourists.

Optimal energy renovation
The first element in the process is to prepare an energy report with recommendations for optimal energy renovation. This must take as much account as possible of climate and cultural values, and this is where the support from Andel comes into the picture.

- I am pleased that we in Andel with the grant can help the museum on its way to reducing energy consumption and promoting more climate-friendly development. It is entirely in the spirit of the Swane artist family, for they were ahead of their time and committed to sustainability. They thus transformed an old homestead into an artist's home with recycled materials, and then they were self-sufficient in their own kitchen garden. I hope that Andel's financial helping hand will also give Malergården the opportunity to stay open all year round, so that many can enjoy the paintings and the beautiful setting that surrounds them, says Rikke Harbo Trikker, communications director at Andel.

The energy consultancy is expected to be completed in 2022.

Facts about Andel's grant to Malergården
In 2020, Andel increased its collective contribution to society and in this connection established a pool that will create value in Region Zealand by promoting the green transition, growth and employment as well as knowledge about the energy system of the future. The grant of DKK 200.00 for Malergården is part of that pool.
