Foundations from both Denmark and England support the exhibition "Skyggekrigerne."

England helped the Danish resistance movement during the occupation period 1940-45 with, among other things, the dropping of weapons and agents as well as supplies to resistance groups.

Why did England help, how was the help organized and why did the British stay in Denmark until 1947?

In collaboration with British researchers, the historians at Museum Vestsjælland are planning the special exhibition "Shadow Warriors" about Britain's actions in West Zealand and Denmark during the occupation

This angle has attracted interest from both the English foundation Gerry Holdsworth Special Forces Charitable Trust, which has granted £24.000, and the Danish Augustinus Foundation, which has just donated a further £1,2 million. DKK for the exhibition. The generous grants give the museum the opportunity to get started with the exhibition, which is scheduled to open at Slagelse Museum on 4 May 2025.

Director of Museum Vestsjælland, Eskil Vagn Olsen states: "It is with the greatest joy that we have received the message that the two foundations have chosen to support the museum's work with this special exhibition. The story seen through British eyes is a unique angle that, as far as I know, has not been examined before in a Danish museum. With the project and the exhibition, we gain an even broader knowledge of a period in Danish history that has had a decisive influence on posterity and our society today".
