Over 80 guests showed up last Friday to celebrate and inaugurate the newly restored Kongsøhav jættestue on Røsnæs!

Our own cultural heritage manager Nils Wickman welcomed us and said a few words.

Lars Bjarke Christensen from the Danish Agency for Palaces and Culture spoke about the project, and cultural committee chairman Hans Erik Munk from Kalundborg Municipality was allowed to cut the ribbon for the newly restored ancient monument.

The giant's chamber, which dates back to the Neolithic period, has been closed off for several years due to the risk of collapse. The stone chamber has now been secured, and the original mound has been partially recreated!

It is thanks to new grants from the Danish Parliament that it has been possible for the Danish Agency for Palaces and Culture to restore and secure Kongsøhav Jættestue.

The restoration was carried out by the Danish Palaces and Culture Agency in collaboration with Morsø Forest and Nature Service and Museum West Zealand.
