Visit Slagelse Museum during the summer holidays and try lots of fun things for the whole family – sew, weave, hammer in nails, build with blocks, draw a hoop and jump. Bring your packed lunch, there are lots of things to try!
Sew a button in
Choose a piece of fabric and a button. Thread the needle and learn how to sew the button through the holes. Take the fabric home. Now you can sew the button yourself into your favorite shirt.
Try weaving rag rugs on the large loom
Old rags can be reused to weave rag rugs. Pass the strip of fabric up and down through the strings and press the woven piece together well.
Build with old-fashioned bricks
Try building with old-fashioned bricks: The bricks have little knobs so they stick a little, but not like you know from Lego. There are different types of bricks so you can build houses or small castles.
Nail in
You can practice driving nails on a nail block. You might get bitten by it. The nail should not bend, but be driven straight in.
Do you know craft proverbs?
We have found a number of well-known and unknown proverbs with crafts. The proverbs are divided into pieces so you can try to put them back together. What belongs together?
Hop and skip
Draw a hopscotch square on the tiles in the garden or in the parking lot (but watch out for traffic) and try to jump in paradise. You use a hopscotch stone. We have instructions ready.
You can also skip all you want. Both individually and in a circle. You can borrow a skipping court, chalk and hopscotch stones from the museum shop.
All activities are free.
There is free admission for children under 18 years of age – adults pay 60 kroner in admission.
