This is where Marianne lived – a lecture about growing up in Greenland

Marianne's upbringing was not like most people's. When she was just four years old, her family moved to a small settlement in Greenland without running water or electricity.

Hear doctor Marianne Haaning Weincke tell the exciting story of her upbringing in the small village in Greenland in the 1960s. She subsequently became a doctor and has lived in Holbæk and been a doctor at Holbæk Hospital, among other places.

Marianne Haaning Weincke's father was posted as a teacher in Akunnaaq, a small village on the west coast of Greenland in 1964. And then the family had to move north.

The family lived in different places, and the move to Greenland suddenly meant that they had to live in a house without running water or electricity.

She lived here with her parents and sister until 1977. She attended a Greenlandic school and learned the language, and the family was part of the community in the small settlement.
